At Mearns Kirk we try to be outward-looking, not only in our own community, but in the wider world.
We are much involved with Christian Aid and participate in the yearly house to house collection. Contact: James Gilchrist
In addition Mearns Kirk organises fund raising each year for a number of selected charities, and arranges a toy collection at Christmas for needy children in the Glasgow area. We also organise an annual outing by coach for Senior Citizens in the Mearns area.

BEREAVEMENT FRIENDSHIP SUPPORT
Once again during our Advent journey, we will be Remembering Those We Love at a special service. This will take place on Sunday evening, 7th of December, at 6.30 p.m. within our Church building. In recent years many have found this service helpful as they have come and affirmed their loved ones, whom they see no longer, as still part of their lives. People who have been bereaved many years and some bereaved recently, have gathered to reflect, to remember, to give thanks for, and to declare that the light of a love shared still shines.
This service is for all people irrespective of age, creed, background; what unites us all is the experience of bereavement.
Mearns Kirk seeks to be a loving, caring, friendly church family, and it is our desire to offer what we can to those who are journeying with a sense of loss. To this end it has been decided to offer a ‘Bereavement Friendship Support’ group. Its first meeting will take place within our hall on Tuesday 20 January, beginning a 7 p.m and finishing at 8.30 p.m. This will be an informal coming together, the aim being to provide ‘a place’ where people can come and talk and find a listening ear and a responsive heart. It is not a ‘churchy’ meeting, rather just a meeting where folks can be themselves, sharing with all kinds of folk who share the same experience.
An open door awaits anyone and a warm welcome too. If you would like to come along, or know of anyone who might benefit, then please, please do.
