At Mearns Kirk we try to be outward-looking, not only in our own community, but in the wider world.
Want to know what it means to belong to the Church?
Want to discuss God, Faith, Church and Life?
Want to look at the possibility of joining Mearns Kirk?
Then perhaps you will want to come along on two Saturday mornings in which you can get the opportunity to explore the above. Dates have still to be arranged, so please check back. It will depend on the interest shown.

Simple yet profound, John’s gospel can be seen as a point of entry for anyone new to the Christian faith and as a favourite haunt for those who know and love the Bible well. John gives his readers a portrait of Jesus’ inner life and identity in order that they might discover a relationship with Christ through genuine faith and that in this relationship they might experience the fullness of life, which can only be enjoyed in fellowship with God through his Son.
We will meet at 1.30 p.m. each week at 10 Meadowburn Avenue, Newton Mearns, the home of Eleanor Boyd. A warm invitation is extended to anyone who would like to join our group. You would be most welcome.

I would like to extend a friendly invitation to everyone at Mearns Kirk to come along to a new Bible Study that is starting in the Church. It will run alongside the established group that meet weekly at Eleanor Boyd's house on a Tuesday afternoon. We are going to start meeting at Susan Fraser's house on Thursday 1st December at 7.30 p.m. and we will then meet every fortnight. The subject we will be looking at is the letters of the apostle Paul. We are going to start with what is regarded as the earliest letter in the New Testament, Paul's first letter to the church in Thessalonica.
So I hope that you will come along for a very informal Bible Study and if you have never been to one before, then I warmly encourage you to come along to meet with us for lively discussion and friendly fellowship. If you need any further information regarding the new group then please do not hesitate to contact me on e-mail at and I look forward to meeting you on 1st December.

A group of church members are involved in visiting the housebound and elderly. They offer practical support in many ways and can also arrange transport to Church. Contact: Jean Henderson.
As many of you know I am very, very happy to visit people at home, or hospital, or wherever. I am told these days that some Ministers will not do home visits but I see this as an important part of my calling. However, I tend to waste a lot of my time going to visit people who are not in. I am asking for your help to make the most use of my time and the Church's resource in its Minister, by doing the following:
1: Please contact me directly if you wish me to visit OR ask a family member or friend to do so.
2: If I do visit and you are not in, I will leave my card with a message asking you to contact me if you wish me to come. Whether I visit or not then depends on you letting me know when you will be in.
Let us work together to ensure that people who need a pastoral visit from the Minister get one, and that the Minister's time is put to good use.
Thank you,
Joe
A book and video lending library is located within the Church. Many varied titles are available to suit all tastes.
Copies of Life and Work are available for sale in the Church vestibule.
Regular Wesley Owen Bookstalls are held on Church premises.
The Support Group meets on the first Tuesday of each month at 7p.m. in the New Hall, so the next meeting is on 7th February and the following on the 6th March. These are very down to earth meetings where folks come together and offer friendship in and through the difficult experience of the loss of a loved one.
Please, if you know of anyone who would benefit from spending time with folks who are going through a similar experience, tell them about it. People have found the Group to be very helpful. Any questions, phone Joe.
We are having a light lunch in the hall for the above on Sunday 11th March after the second service.
Tickets at £1.50 each will be available in the vestibule before the event. We look forward to your support.
